Burglar makes off with two pairs of panties

A Fort Walton Beach burglar recently lifted unmentionables from a mobile home during a break-in. The resident of a Heritage Road mobile home told a deputy she noticed the rear door to her trailer "slightly open," according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office offense report. She also said someone had removed the window unit air conditioner and opened the window. Among the items missing from the home were her son’s Sony Playstation and a controller ($200), about 20 games ($15 each), about 10 DVDs ($15 each) and two pairs of girl’s panties. .

Police grab tagger with an eye for utility poles

A prolific 31-year-old tagger was arrested Thursday, Jan. 31, and hit with nearly three dozen criminal mischief charges in connection with graffiti nailed to utility poles across the city.

Ryan Wendell Birkland was arrested by officers from Portland Police Bureau's Central Precinct Neighborhood Response Team.

The graffiti began showing up on Portland General Electric poles several months ago. A similar style of graffiti resulted in $12,000 worth of damages to the Sherwood Field Water Tank in Washington Park.

During the investigation, Officer Matt Miller, the bureau's graffiti investigator, received several tips about the graffiti that lead officers to Gallery 19, 1339 N.W. 19th Ave. Similar graffiti could be seen through the gallery's windows on display inside the building.

Views: KGB; Compassion for rape victims; Monroe Street development

Thanks to Wisconsin State Journal sports reporter Jason Wilde for Friday's article on Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and the film, "Facing the Giants." It is a great movie with principles that can be used in many areas of our lives.

We each need to take responsibility in our lives, and take time to impact others' lives. Both KGB and this movie have done a super job of living that. The movie is also clear on the message that our hope and direction is from one source, and that is the Lord God -- Jesus.

Small is big at Phila. auto show

The concept cars, the hybrids, the Hummers, the ultra-luxury vehicles, the ubiquitous SUVs and minivans all got their due.

But the car that seemed to truly capture the imagination yesterday at the Philadelphia International Auto Show was the itty-bitty Smart Fortwo, which has been available in the United States for less than a month.

"Is this the line to sit in it?" asked Robin Emrick of Bensalem.

There was no line, just a steady throng of people three deep milling around the two-seater, photographing it, marveling at it, lifting its hatchback, and sitting in it, in some cases, rather snugly.

"It's a little shocking to me," said Raymond James, a brand specialist at the Smart Center in Cherry Hill. "I knew it would be popular, but I didn't think we'd be the hit of the show."

Curiosity, not car lust, seemed to be the prevailing mood.

Galen Culver Reporting

They come from the small rodeos, from all night carpools, and drive-thru breakfasts' two hundred bull riders qualified for the Challengers Tour Championship in Oklahoma City. As Galen Culver reports, every one of them is hoping to repeat what one east Texas cowboy did last year; come from nowhere to win.
